The main objectives of the nephrological service are the prevention and detection of nephrological diseases, the provision of qualified and specialized treatment, preventive and advisory care to patients with nephrological diseases, and increasing the level of knowledge of doctors and nurses in the field of nephrology.
The department examines and treats nephrology patients with the following pathologies:
chronic glomerulonephritis, if it is necessary to use invasive examination methods (nephrobiopsy), to clarify the clinical and morphological form of the disease;
diabetic nephropathy to clarify the degree of nephropathy and to select, prepare and conduct program chronic hemodialysis in order to prepare for kidney transplantation;
interstitial nephritis if it is necessary to use additional instrumental and invasive examination methods;
chronic pyelonephritis, if it is necessary to use special instrumental or invasive examination methods (nephroangiography, computed tomography, etc.);
identification of nephrological diseases in a special contingent of people sent for examination: among conscripts, workers in some hazardous industries, to determine the functional state of the kidneys for the MREC;
diagnosis and differential diagnosis of arterial hypertension if additional examination methods are necessary (nephroangiography, etc.);
carrying out complex conservative treatment of kidney diseases in the early stages of chronic renal failure when treatment at the place of residence is ineffective;
carrying out hemodialysis for the purpose of the main means of life support in the absence of contraindications from internal organs;
dialysis, medication and laboratory preparation of patients for kidney transplantation;
providing symptomatic treatment in dialysis patients in the intervals between hemodialysis sessions when a complicated course of uremic syndrome occurs (the need to correct anemia, infectious complications, etc.).
Treatment and prognosis of IgA nephropathy;
Correction of nephrogenic (renal) anemia;
Treatment of kidney damage in systemic rheumatological diseases;
Diagnosis and correction of mineral-bone disorders in patients with chronic renal failure;
Nephroprotection (kidney protection) for diabetes;
Management of pregnant women with nephrological pathology.

Consultations by nephrologists are carried out according to referrals issued by territorial health care institutions and on a paid basis.
Consultative and diagnostic assistance to foreign citizens is provided on a paid basis.
Patients are accommodated in 6- and 3-bed wards; the department also has small 1- and 2-bed wards with the organization of individual care without medical indications, and wards for war veterans.
