International Family Day
May 15
International Family Day is celebrated annually on May 15th. It was not by chance that the Day in Support of Families appeared in the early 90s. Divorce rates have risen sharply around the world, and the percentage of people over 30 who have never married has risen.
The main goal of the International Day is to support families, attract the attention of the general public to the complexities and difficulties of the family institution, and the opportunity to jointly find optimal solutions to support and help families whose problems are essentially similar.
The most important function of the family is to provide conditions for the birth and upbringing of a healthy child. Children's health is one of the most important medical and social priorities of any state.
It is difficult to underestimate the role of the family in society. It is in it that a person’s life begins, the formation and laying of the foundations of personality. It is from here that your acquaintance with the world begins, with what will surround a person throughout your life. Thanks to the family, the child spends his first years surrounded by his closest and loving relatives, who teach him how to communicate, how to behave in society, and most importantly, how to value and respect loved ones. In addition, a person’s character begins to form within the family.
The family is the main element of society, which is the custodian of human values and culture, as well as the historical continuity of generations, a factor of stability and development. Thanks to the family, the state strengthens and develops, and the well-being of the people grows. A family is a social institution in which a child reveals the potential inherent in nature and determines his place in life, learns goodness, justice and creativity. The further dynamic development of social phenomena directly depends on the personal characteristics of each person and his contribution to the creative process.
Subprogram 1 “Family and Childhood” in the State Program “People’s Health and Demographic Security of the Republic of Belarus” for 2016–2020 provides for measures to develop and strengthen family values, increase the prestige of parenthood, improve population reproduction, improve the maternal and child health care system, develop the supporting families with children and improving their living conditions, strengthening the institution of family, ensuring the rights and legitimate interests of children.
On this day, educational, public and festive events are held in many countries: concerts; meetings of married couples with extensive experience in family life; charity events for guardian families with children and for children from large and low-income families; trainings for young families; thematic workshops and conferences, radio and television programs dedicated to family topics, and other events.
Family Day is that holiday when you especially want to be with your family and friends, say warm words to each other, and pay attention and care. This is important for everyone, which is why it is so valuable to maintain family traditions and culture and pass them on from generation to generation.
Government bodies of all countries pay special attention to the formation of family relationships as a guarantor of stability and well-being. Remember that a healthy nation begins with a healthy family.
Appreciate and take care of your family, pass on good traditions from generation to generation!
