Human health begins with clean hands. About 80% of all infectious diseases are transmitted by contact through dirty or poorly washed hands through the surfaces of objects that we touch. Hand washing can reduce the risk of developing acute intestinal infections by 30–48%, acute respiratory infections – by 20%. Regular and proper hand washing is one of the most important aspects of personal hygiene.
Interesting facts:
Our hands, from fingertips to elbows, can contain between 2 million and 140 million microorganisms;
microorganisms can remain alive on hands for up to 3 hours;
There are a thousand times more bacteria and viruses on wet hands than on dry ones;
There are millions of microorganisms hiding under a watch or a bracelet on your hand, and there may be more of them under a ring than there are people in all of Europe!
Hand hygiene is mandatory before preparing, serving or eating food, before any procedures that require touching the eyes, nose or mouth, before and after caring for sick people, after using the toilet, after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing, after contact with animals, after returning home.
Remember to wash your hands with soap for at least 15-20 seconds, then rinse off the soap and dry your hands using paper towels, an electric towel or an individual cloth towel. Use a paper towel to turn off the faucet or open the door of a public restroom.
Set an example for others, take care of your health and the health of your loved ones, wash your hands regularly with soap. Remember that clean hands are one of the foundations of a healthy lifestyle.
