About the department

The pediatric department for newborns is part of the maternity hospital and is located on the 3rd floor of the obstetric building, designed for 10 children's beds, including 5 beds for premature newborns.

The main goal of the department is to provide qualified diagnostic, treatment and early rehabilitation assistance to children in the neonatal period.

The pediatric department receives newborn children in need of nursing, treatment and rehabilitation from the department of anesthesiology and intensive care for newborns and from the neonatal department of maternity hospital No. 1.

Most of the wards in the department are mother-child wards. Constant interaction between mother and child in combination with modern methods of therapy helps to significantly increase the rehabilitation potential of newborns. The department practices nursing premature babies with the involvement of both parents: psychological support of the child’s father and his participation in nursing is of great importance for maintaining warm and calm relationships in the family.

Nursing and treatment of newborns is carried out by a team of neonatologists who constantly improve their professional skills and qualifications (studying modern medical literature, attending advanced training courses, participating in scientific conferences and seminars).

The medical staff of the department is distinguished by its friendly attitude and individual approach to each little patient and his parents.

Basic principles of work of the medical staff of the department:

• mother and child living together;
• priority of breastfeeding;
• the use of physical therapy and physiotherapeutic treatment methods;
• promotion of healthy lifestyles.

With the opening of our department in the institution, there was no longer a need to transfer children for nursing to other hospitals in the city. Now almost all babies born in the maternity hospital of the 1st City Clinical Hospital have the opportunity to receive highly qualified care on the spot and be discharged home.
