HUMANITARIAN PROJECT
1. Project name: "Saving the life and health of patients"
2. Project implementation period: 2026-2027
3. The applicant organization proposing the project: healthcare institution "1st City Clinical Hospital" (hereinafter referred to as UZ "1st GKB").
4. Project objectives:
improving patient safety through monitoring (continuous monitoring) of his condition and critical indicators, the ability to remotely monitor the operation of peripheral devices;
optimize and improve the department's workflows and improve work through centralized data viewing, the use of mobile devices for remote monitoring, and reducing the burden on doctors and nurses.
5. Tasks planned to be performed within the framework of the project:
5.1 Acquisition of a centralized patient monitoring system (hereinafter referred to as the CMP) for 8 beds;
5.2 ensuring continuous monitoring of the patient's condition and vital signs of his body;
5.3 timely notification of critical conditions to staff;
5.4 reduction of mortality among patients;
5.5 optimization of the work of doctors and nurses of the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive care.
6. Target group: patients undergoing inpatient treatment in the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive care (with intensive care and intensive care units) of the 1st State Clinical Hospital.
7. Brief description of the project activities:
Monitoring of the patient's condition is of the greatest importance in intensive care, when at any moment a person's condition can deteriorate dramatically, and allows for continuous monitoring and timely response due to instant audible and visual alarms in case of violation of critical indicators. Data from all bedside monitors is combined at one post with graphs displayed on the display, automatic recording, storage and archiving of patient status data, as well as the ability to print reports, which facilitates the management of medical records and provides automatic analysis.
For these events, the SCMP is a set of medical equipment that allows you to simultaneously monitor the vital signs of several patients at once. The SCMP consists of the following components:
- individual patient monitors;
- central monitoring station;
- printer.
The central station is a computer equipped with special software that allows you to connect multiple monitors to it at the same time. The computer screen is divided into blocks, each of which corresponds to one patient of the department. The block reflects several of the most significant vital signs of the body. Thus, the doctor gets the opportunity to monitor the condition of patients, immediately notice the changes that occur and take measures to correct the therapy.
Real-time monitoring significantly optimizes the work of medical personnel, reduces the detection time of emergency situations, and increases the effectiveness of intensive care.
Any vital signs can be monitored, but the following are the most important:
- blood pressure level;
- heart rate;
- respiratory rate;
- saturation;
- the content of carbon dioxide in the blood;
- body temperature.
All these indicators are necessarily monitored throughout the patient's stay in the intensive care unit, and if deviations from the maximum permissible values appear, the doctor makes adjustments to the treatment regimen.
A patient monitor is a medical device designed to monitor a person's vital signs during hospital treatment. The device is also used during artificial lung ventilation and anesthesia during surgical procedures.
Individual patient monitoring monitors record the following vital body performance indicators:
- heart rate;
- blood pressure level;
- saturation - oxygen saturation of the blood, reflects the functionality of the lung tissue;
- respiratory rate;
- body temperature;
- cardiac activity;
- the amount and ratio of blood gases and others.
The monitor simultaneously registers several vital signs of the body, emits a beep when any violations occur. Due to this, the medical staff can respond faster and better to changes in the patient's condition and take the necessary measures.
