Sanctions against Belarusian workers violate ILO conventions

06.06.2022

For more than two years now, in circumvention of the UN Charter, the countries of the collective West have been applying sanctions against Belarus and thereby violating the right of workers to work. The Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus has repeatedly appealed to opponents to abandon discriminatory policies against the workers of our country. In 2021, more than a million Belarusians signed an open letter against illegal sanctions, which was sent to the Council of the European Union. In 2022, trade unions in Belarus filed a complaint with the International Labor Organization about violations of a number of ILO conventions by the European Union countries. What violations are we talking about, what the accusation is based on and what reaction is expected, the Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus Mikhail Orda told at the session of the 110th International Labor Conference of the ILO.
