3rd plenum of the Minsk City Committee of the Belarusian Trade Union of Health Workers
05/10/2021
“In the foreground is the safety and material support of industry workers in difficult life situations,” said the chairman of the organization, Georgy Semenovich Budrevich, during the plenum of the Minsk City Committee of the BPRZ, characterizing its work during the pandemic.
The main issues that were discussed at the plenum were the progress in implementing the program of main activities of the Belarusian Trade Union of Health Workers for 2020–2025, intra-union discipline and the work of the audit commission of the Minsk City Committee of the Belarusian Trade Union of Health Workers. The meeting was attended by the chairman of the Belarusian Trade Union of Health Workers, Vyacheslav Shilo.
In his report, the head of the city organization BPHR noted that the current epidemiological situation required the reorientation of human and material resources and their maximum direction to prevent the occurrence of situations dangerous for healthcare workers: economic, social and legal. The Minsk City Committee of the BPRZ provided medical assistance to all trade union members who fell ill with COVID-19 infection, regardless of the duration of temporary disability.
“In 2020, assistance was provided to 4,108 employees - members of the trade union for a total amount of more than 422 thousand rubles. We also decided to continue in 2021 to financially help employees who became infected with COVID-19 while performing their work duties, both at the expense of primary trade union organizations and at the expense of the Minsk City Trade Union Committee,” said Georgy Budrevich.
Currently, the bulk of the financial resources of the Minsk City Trade Union Committee, as well as the entire Belarusian Trade Union of Health Workers, have been reoriented to assist doctors in the fight against the pandemic - to provide personal protective equipment, disinfectants, create safe working conditions, and organize hot meals.
In addition, trade union members who suffered illnesses caused by COVID-19 infection for recovery and rehabilitation, inclusive of May 2021, were provided with 30% compensation for the cost of vouchers to the sanatoriums of the Belprofsoyuzkurort network. Since the beginning of the year, the Minsk City Trade Union Committee has allocated more than 6 thousand rubles for these purposes; 44 trade union members received this discount on vouchers.
Also, through the joint efforts of employers and the trade union, significant work has been done to improve and further develop social partnership and collective contractual regulation of labor relations, to introduce the norms of Tariff and local agreements into collective agreements and to implement Article 365 of the Labor Code of the Republic of Belarus.
