Celebration of Maslenitsa

On February 26, 2022, the trade union committee of the Healthcare Institution “1st City Clinical Hospital” together with the Unitary Enterprise “Belarusturist” organized an excursion for employees to the Tourist Complex “Volny Melnik” for a unique Maslenitsa program “And we have Sennya - Maslenka”.

Maslenitsa is one of the most long-awaited and brightest holidays in the national calendar. This is not one day, but a whole riotous week, each day in which becomes the next stage of saying goodbye to winter and preparing for the long-awaited spring. Maslenitsa is one of our employees’ favorite holidays. Every year our medical workers go with their entire families to celebrate Maslenitsa.

43 people took part in the trip. Funds have been allocated from the trade union budget to pay for tourist services, entrance tickets to the tourist complex and payment for transport.

The excursion turned out to be eventful and very interesting. Together with the guide, we visited the agricultural town of Dvorishche (Lida district) - the ancient tourist complex “Free Miller”, and got acquainted with the exhibits of the exhibition halls of the tourist complex.

Then we took part in the interactive program “And we have Sennya-Mastenka” with games, round dances, and ritual actions. Getting to know Maslenitsa traditions was positive and exciting; we took part in fun games and competitions. The end of the visit to the tourist complex was a colorful interactive ritual with our participation, “Spalvanne Winter” and a Maslenitsa treat. What would a holiday be without hot, rosy pancakes! The tradition of baking pancakes on Maslenitsa dates back to the times of worship of pagan gods. After all, it was the sun god Yarilo that the Slavs called upon to drive away winter, and the round, ruddy pancake is so similar to the spring sun...

Then we visited Lida Castle. Our little trip ended, and we bought souvenirs in craft workshops and a souvenir shop as a souvenir.

The excursion participants thanked the trade union committee and tour operators of the Belarustourist Unitary Enterprise for a well-organized and exciting trip.
