A healthy heart is the key to longevity
According to statistics, mortality from diseases of the cardiovascular system is growing every year, and in the overall structure of mortality this group of diseases occupies a leading position.

As practice shows, most diseases of the cardiovascular system are caused by
- wrong lifestyle
- bad habits,
- and heredity.
And if it’s hard to argue with genetics, then other reasons can be smoothed out, or even prevented altogether.
Heart diseases
There are five groups of heart diseases , taking into account the causes of their occurrence:
- Atherosclerotic diseases and high blood pressure diseases
- Rheumatic
- Syphilitic
- Congenital
- Functional
The most common diseases of the cardiovascular system are coronary heart disease, hypertension, atherosclerosis, myocardial infarction.
Risk factors for cardiovascular diseases include:
- Age (the older a person is, the higher the risk of cardiovascular disease)
- Gender (men are more at risk than women) Smoking (smokers suffer from heart disease 2-3 times more often than non-smokers)
- Sedentary lifestyle
- Obesity
- Alcohol consumption (frequent, excessive, low-quality alcohol)
- Heredity
- Stress
- Poor nutrition and harmful environmental influences
How do diseases of the cardiovascular system manifest themselves?
Various heart diseases have a number of similar symptoms, which include:
- Pain behind the sternum, which can radiate to the back, left arm, left shoulder, stomach, neck, lower jaw.
- Feelings of interruptions in the heart, heart rhythm disturbances
- Blood pressure instability, especially increased blood pressure
- Shortness of breath that occurs during normal physical activity, such as walking, climbing stairs, and goes away when the exercise stops
If you have these symptoms, or one of them, you should consult a general practitioner or cardiologist for a detailed examination and treatment. The examination includes an examination by a doctor, an ECG, an echo, clinical and biochemical blood tests, and stress tests. In difficult cases, invasive diagnostic methods are used.
Prevention and treatment of heart disease
An important link in the fight against diseases of the cardiovascular system is prevention. Normalization of nutrition, work and rest patterns, and adequate sleep are the first steps on the path to a healthy heart. Physical activity is also recommended - this can be regular walking, running or other sports activity; in general, about 2.5 hours of physical activity are needed for vascular and heart health.
It is necessary to eat foods low in fat, as well as salt and sugar, eat more cereals, fruits and vegetables. Giving up bad habits will also help your heart stay healthy.
If it happens that you already have problems with the cardiovascular system, then you need to add to the prevention the treatment that the doctor will prescribe. These may be drugs to combat the formation of atherosclerotic plaques and blood clots, drugs to stabilize pressure and increase the supply of oxygen to the myocardium. In some cases, cardiac surgery may be necessary.
